Volunteer Work Exchange Program

The Volunteer Work Exchange (VWE) Program at Rancho Margot allows responsible individuals to contribute work to our sustainable eco-friendly project in exchange for full room and board. Our volunteers play an integral role in supporting Rancho Margot and ensuring professional customer service and a positive experience for our hotel guests.

Rancho Margot only hosts volunteers who can commit themselves for 4 weeks in order to fulfill the objectives of the program. Upon completion of the first month, if expectations are met and exceeded we will gladly consider extending the duration of the work exchange.

Our volunteers will be asked to work in many different areas according to the needs of the Ranch. It is important that volunteers maintain flexibility as our needs change.

All volunteers may be asked to do general work in the following areas:

  • Organic Agriculture (must be capable of strenuous work)
  • General maintenance and grounds keeping
  • Housekeeping

In addition to the areas above, volunteers who already have certain skills and experience prior to arriving at the Ranch may work in more specialized areas. We do not offer training to volunteers. Specialized jobs include:

  • Yoga Instructors (must be certified)
  • Community service (some Spanish required)
  • Chefs, Sous Chefs, Kitchen Assistants & Dishwashers
  • Bakers and/or Skilled Pastry Chefs
  • Skilled Butchers & Cheese-Makers
  • Beekeepers
  • Persons Experienced in Construction & Carpentry
